The Hawkinsville Downtown Development Authority meet on the second Tuesday of the month from February to November. Meetings start at 10 AM and are located at City Hall’s Commissioner Board Room at 56 Broad Street.  The following are the 2026 HDDA and Main Street Committee Meeting Dates. Downtown Clean Up

Saturday, March 28, 2026

Downtown Hawkinsville’s Main Street Program will host a Downtown Clean Up on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The Downtown Clean Up will start at 10 AM and volunteers are asked to meet at Cabero Park (115 Commerce Street). Trash bags, gloves, and water will be provided. We will be de-weeding flower beds and picking up trash. If you have any questions, please contact Jamie McDonald at 478-892-3240 Extension 6. See you there!

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt

March 23 to 27, 2026

Downtown Hawkinsville’s Main Street Program has partnered with SunMark Community Bank for the Fourth Annual Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt from March 23rd through March 27th. Every day a gigantic egg will be hidden, and a prize, donated by SunMark Community Bank, will be given. Follow Downtown Hawkinsville on Facebook and Instagram for daily hints on the location of each egg. Hints will be released in the afternoon between 3:00 PM. Once you find an egg, please claim your prize by visiting the Economic Development & Main Street Office at 56 Broad Street Suite 102 or call 478-892-3240 and choose extension 6.

Also, don’t forget that SunMark Community Bank will be hosting “Pictures with the Easter Bunny” on March 27, 2026, at the M.E. Roden Memorial Library starting at 3:00 PM, located at 151 Commerce Street.

Celebrate Historic Preservation Month in Downtown Hawkinsville by joining the Downtown Hawkinsville’s Main Street Program on the Downtown Historic Walking Tour Saturday, May 9, 2025, at 9 AM. The tour will start and end at The Hawkinsville Opera House and is free to the public, so grab your walking shoes and get downtown to learn more about Hawkinsville’s history!

Downtown Clean Up

Join Downtown Hawkinsville’s Main Street Program for the 3rd quarterly Downtown Clean-Up Day on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Check in will start at 9:30 AM and will be located at Cabero Park (115 Commerce Street).
We will be cleaning up trash in the downtown area, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. If you would like to donate trash grabbers or water please contact the Economic Development Office at 478-892-3240 Extension 6

Downtown Fall Market

Join us on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10 AM – 2 PM for the Fall Downtown Market located at The Green Space (80 Commerce Street) and throughout downtown.
Discover the best of local flavor, creativity, and community at the Downtown Fall Market in beautiful downtown Hawkinsville. This outdoor event invites visitors to enjoy a lively day of shopping, eating, and connecting with local vendors.
For Shoppers:
Stroll through vendor booths featuring locally grown produce, handmade arts and crafts, fall plants, and a variety of food trucks offering delicious bites. It’s a great way to support local and discover something new.

Pick up a punch card at any participating downtown business between 10 AM and 2 PM.
Shop at 3 local businesses or vendors and get your card punched. Complete your card and drop it off at the Downtown Main Street booth at The Green Space for a chance to win a prize at 2 PM.

Get ready for a fun and festive afternoon in Downtown Hawkinsville! On Friday, October 23, from 4 to 6 PM, bring your costumed kids downtown for Trick-or-Treat on Commerce Street, where local businesses will be handing out candy and celebrating the Halloween spirit.
Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
For Families:
Enjoy a safe and family-friendly environment where kids can trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses, all while showing off their costumes and enjoying the fall fun.
For Businesses, Clubs, and Organizations:
We invite all business owners to get involved by dressing up, decorating storefronts, and handing out candy.

Join us for the 2026 Main Street Fest—a vibrant evening of community celebration in Downtown Hawkinsville! Set for Friday, November 7, this family-friendly event will once again light up The Green Space with live music, mouthwatering food trucks, and the always-anticipated Main Street Awards presentation.
Don’t miss your chance to purchase a limited-edition holiday ornament, available exclusively during the event. Plus, enter our raffle drawing for a shot at some fantastic prizes!

Holiday Decoration Contest

Holiday Decoration Contest Sign Up Deadline- Wednesday, November 18, 2026

Holiday Decoration Contest Voting- Saturday, November 21, 2026, Saturday, November 28, 2026, ending at 2 PM

The Hawkinsville–Pulaski County Holiday Decoration Contest invites all local businesses to join in spreading Christmas cheer by decorating their storefronts. This year’s contest encourages participants to incorporate the community’s parade theme, helping create a festive atmosphere throughout town. Winners will be determined by community voting, making this a fun and engaging way for residents to support their favorite businesses.

Participation is open to any business located within Hawkinsville–Pulaski County. Businesses must register by November 18, 2026, and pick up or request delivery of a QR code between November 19–21 from 8:30 AM to 5 PM at 56 Broad Street, Suite 102. The QR code must be displayed on the business’s window or door to allow public voting. All decorations must be completed by November 21.

Voting will take place from November 21 through November 28 at 2 PM. Community members can vote by scanning the QR codes displayed at participating businesses and by liking their favorite decorated storefronts on Downtown Hawkinsville’s Facebook page. Votes from both methods will be combined to determine the winner.

The business with the most votes will be announced at the Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, November 28 at 5 PM. Participants are encouraged to have a representative present at the event. MAIN STREET COMMITTEE 

The Main Street Committee is made up of subcommittees that include the Organization Subcommittee, Promotion Subcommittee, Economic Vitality Subcommittee and Design Subcommittee. The Main Street Committee is made up of downtown commercial district property owners, business owners, employees, and residents that help with strategic downtown planning initiatives.

ORGANIZATION

This committee lays the foundation for effective Downtown redevelopment by focusing on strategic planning, resource allocation, community involvement, financial resources, and building strong partnerships. They work closely with local government bodies, non-profit organizations, and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach towards achieving common goals.

PROMOTION

A lively Downtown relies on effective promotion and marketing strategies. The Promotion Committee is tasked with enhancing Downtown’s visibility, organizing events, festivals, and activities that attract residents and visitors alike. They also position the downtown commercial district as the hub of economic activity and create a positive image that highlights a community’s unique characteristics. Their efforts not only promote local businesses but also create memorable experiences that contribute to Downtown’s appeal.

ECONOMIC VITALITY

Sustainable economic growth is essential for the long-term success of Downtown. The Economic Vitality Committee focuses on business development, entrepreneurship support, market analysis, and property development strategies. By fostering a thriving business ecosystem, they contribute to job creation, economic diversity, and increased investment in Downtown.

DESIGN

The aesthetics and functionality of Downtown spaces play a crucial role in shaping the overall experience. The Design Committee focuses on enhancing the physical environment through urban design, streetscape improvements, historic preservation, and beautification projects. Their work aims to create inviting and pedestrian-friendly spaces that reflect the unique character of Downtown.

DOWNTOWN HAWKINSVILLE AMBASSADORS

A Downtown Hawkinsville Ambassador can be anyone who lives in Pulaski County and loves Downtown Hawkinsville! Hawkinsville Helpers are the boots on the ground workers who help see our HDDA Board and Main Street Committees plans through. Hawkinsville Helpers volunteer to be ambassadors for Downtown Hawkinsville, work events, participate in clean ups, and engage in helping beautify Downtown Hawkinsville. If you are interested in being a Hawkinsville Helpers, fill out an application and make sure you mark your interests and a staff person will reach out to you soon.
