The City of Hawkinsville contracts with Ryland Environmental for the removal of solid waste and yard debris. Ryland Environmental provides containers/dumpsters for the collection of residential, business and industrial garbage as well as bi-weekly pickup of yard debris/leaves and limbs. Roll-off containers may be utilized for large industries and construction sites, these roll-offs can be rented using any third-party provider. There are no city collections for residents outside the city limits.
2026 Yard Debris Collection Schedule
Debris such as concrete, sheetrock, carpet, tires or junk cards will not be picked up by the city. In the event that such debris is left on the City right of way, the owner or resident will be cited. Fines are $250 for the first offense and $400 for any subsequent offense.
Yard trimmings, grass clippings, limbs and leaves must be separated from other debris and not mixed together. This should be piled on the curb and NOT put into bags.
Professional tree trimmers, building contractors and professional landscapers are responsible for removing all of the debris they create.
Yard waste is picked up every other week, per the schedule, and must be placed by the curb the evening prior to your normal pickup day. Businesses that use a household cart are not provided yard waste pickup.
Yard waste includes:
- Leaves
- Pine straw
- Pine cones
- Grass clippings
- Tree trimmings
- Other matter generated from the maintenance of your yard

Yard waste DOES NOT include:
- Plastic painting tubs
- Lumber
- Landscaping timbers
- Wooden fencing
- Posts, pallets, cross ties
- Any type of land clearing
- Furniture
- Mattresses
- Appliances
- Construction Debris
- Carpet/Padding
- Household Trash
Tree trimmings, hedge clippings and similar materials shall be cut to a length not to exceed four (4) feet and securely tied in bundles not more than two (2) feet thick before being deposited for pick up. (Ord. of 10-2-73, § 4)
Yard waste material shall not exceed an area greater than six feet by twelve feet by three feet per collection or 8 cubic yards. Tree stumps that exceed 6″ in diameter and piles that exceed 8 cubic yards shall be charged for additional services.
